Symbolic Actions of Jesus | Eucharist
(Luke 22:19-20; Mark 14:22-24; Matthew 26:26-28; John 6:51-58)
At the Last Supper, Jesus gave bread and wine to his disciples. This is a ceremony known as the Eucharist or the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper commemorates Jesus' death and the shedding of his blood, which also symbolises his redeeming and sacrificial love. Communion allows Christians to remember and appreciate what Jesus has done for them. It also helps them to better understand the value of his love and salvation.
